
About Us
Carpe Diem Speech Therapy is a private pediatric speech therapy clinic located in the heart of Sylvania, Ohio. Founded in 2020 by a speech language pathologist, Carpe Diem strives to provide effective, research-based therapy for children with a variety of speech and language disorders or delays using creative and engaging methods.

Meet Our Therapists
Shairene Alo, M.A., CCC-SLP, is an Ohio native. She earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo in education in 1999 and worked as an elementary and middle school teacher. In 2010, she left teaching to pursue a master’s degree in speech language pathology.
Shairene graduated in August of 2015 from the University of Toledo with a Master of Arts degree in Speech Language Pathology and a Certificate in Advanced Intervention for Listening and Spoken Language Development of Children who use Advanced Hearing Technologies. Shairene gained experience working at Promedica Total Rehab Pediatrics designing and implementing diagnostic and treatment plans for children with autism, hearing loss, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, and expressive/receptive language delays. Shairene has enjoyed working with patients as young as 18 months of age with early intervention as a key priority.

Alyssa Marva, M.A., CCC-SLP, graduated in May of 2018 from the University of Toledo with a Master of Arts degree in Speech Language Pathology. Alyssa has experience working with pediatric through geriatric populations, assessing, diagnosing and treating a variety of communication disorders including speech sound disorders, motor speech disorders, and spoken and written expressive/receptive language disorders. Alyssa is passionate about working with children and their families to enhance their executive function skills, develop a love of learning, and meet their communication goals.

We serve Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, including Sylvania, Toledo, Ottawa Hills, Perrysburg, Maumee, Bedford, Lambertville, and Temperance.
We also offer teletherapy for Ohio residents.
Payments
We are currently credentialed as an in-network provider for Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna Ohio, and Medical Mutual of Ohio (MMO). We cannot accept Medicaid members at this time.
For any other insurance company, we are an out-of-network provider. If your insurance policy has out-of-network speech benefits, you may be able to submit provided invoices/superbills to your insurance company and the company may directly reimburse you, based on the terms of your insurance policy.
For private pay, we accept checks, cash payments, and credit/debit cards.
Location
We are located on Monroe Street near downtown Sylvania, OH. We share an office space with the Enixus Center for Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture. Our office building is in the rear.
